King Island Netball Association Mission Statement
The King Island Netball Association (KINA) has a long history in the community - being established in 1958. Originally founded by Margaret Richards (nee Thorne), the association has grown significantly with teams now playing across four competitions. KINA aims to:

Make netball participation available for all children who want to play, regardless of ability and socio-economic, religious or ethnic background.

Develop a player's netball skills and team play, and encourage progression in the sport for players who are interested in participating in a higher competitive level of netball.

Increase the profile of netball in the community.

Increase children's broader social, emotional and physical development through participation in netball in a safe and encouraging environment.
Netball Tasmania General Code of Conduct
You must ensure the standards of the Fair Play Code are applied by demonstrating the five core values that will lead to fair play for all:

As a person required to comply with this regulation, you must meet the following requirements in regard to your conduct during any activity held by or under the auspices of Netball Tasmania, an Affiliated Association/League or Club.
1. Fully comply with the Child Safety in Netball Code of Conduct
2. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of others
3. Be fair, considerate and honest in all dealings with others
4. Be professional in, and accept responsibility for your actions
5. Make a commitment to providing quality service
6. Be aware of, and maintain Netball Tasmania's standards, rules, regulations and policies
7. Operate within the rules and regulations of Netball Tasmania, affiliated Associations/Leagues and Clubs
8. Do not use your involvement in netball to promote your own beliefs, behaviours or practices where these are inconsistent with those of Netball Tasmania, affiliated Associations/Leagues and Clubs
9. Demonstrate a high degree of individual responsibility especially when dealing with persons under 18 years of age, as your words and actions are example
10. Avoid unaccompanied and unobserved activities with persons under 18 years of age, wherever possible
11. Refrain from any behaviour that may bring Netball Tasmania, affiliated Associations/Leagues or Clubs into disrepute 12. Provide a safe environment for the conduct of the activity
13. Show concern and caution towards others who may be sick or injured
14. Be a positive role model
15. Understand the repercussions if you breach, or aware of any breaches of the Code of Conduct

KINA Coaches Duties & Responsibilities
Your role as a Coach for the King Island Netball Association:
-
Plan and run a weekly training session with the team that includes fitness, skill work and match play.

Prepare positions for the game day and attend the scheduled game.

Attend association meetings when required.
-
Abide by the Code of Conduct and any other relevant codes of behaviour as described by Netball Victoria and KINA.

Communication and explain to players about the requirements of the Codes of Conduct for players.
-
Be aware of the relevant By Laws for KINA.
-
Complete the online Foundation Coaching Course run by Netball Victoria.
-
Hold a current Working with Children Check (unless exempt).
-
Attend the end of season Presentation events to present player awards.
-
Communicate as required with the KINA Committee with regard to the above roles and responsibilities.

To reduce the risk of injury, check the training area and equipment is safe, that training drills are appropriate to the age, skill and fitness level of all players and that all players are dressed appropriately and wearing appropriate footwear when training and playing.

Record any injury which occurs to a player or coach during training. Use common sense, or seek advice if you are unsure, to decide whether the injury should also be reported to the Committee and parent/s.

Report any injury which occurs to a player during the game on the appropriate Injury/Incident Form/s available.

For Junior Competitions, ensure players are collected at the Gym after training. Do not allow players to leave the gym to wait for their own collection.

Keep a list of contact details for players and parents in the case of cancellation, early dismissal or injury.
KINA Umpiring Code of Behaviour
In addition to Netball Tasmania's General Code of Behaviour, you must meet the following requirements regarding your conduct during any activity held by KINA in your role as an umpire.

Umpire in accordance with the Official Rules of the Game.

Treat all players, coaches, match officials and other umpires with respect.
-
Place the safety and welfare of the players above all else.
-
Ensure the court and its surrounds are compliant with the rules.

Take appropriate action to manage dangerous play.
-
Maintain a high standard of personal behaviour always.
-
Be a positive role model through behaviour and personal appearance projecting a favourable image of netball and umpiring always.
-
Be courteous, respectful and open to discussion and interaction.
-
Maintain or improve your current performance level and seek continual improvement.
Fair Play Code
The Victorian Government’s new Fair Play Code – a code of conduct for sport and recreation in Victoria, outlines the standards of behaviour expected for everyone involved in sport and recreation. KINA has chosen to still adopt this code. The Fair Play Code sends a loud and clear message – that bad behaviour, violence, cheating and intimidation has no place in sport and recreation in our state. At the heart of the code are the five core values that will lead to fair play for all – integrity – respect – responsibility – fairness – safety.
KINA Expectations
The King Island Netball Association has expectations for all players, coaches, umpires and spectators, and are as follows:

Respect all players, coaches, umpires and spectators.

Remember that players participate for pleasure and winning is only part of the fun.

Operate within the rules and spirit of the sport.
-
Make the experience for all players, coaches, umpires and spectators a positive experience.
-
Display control, respect and professionalism to all involved in the sport.
-
Any physical contact with a young player should be appropriate to the situation and necessary for the player's skill development.
-
Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or beliefs.
-
Show concern and caution towards sick or injured players, follow the advice of a physician when determining whether an injured player is ready to commence training or games.
-
At all times, represent the Association with dignity and sportsmanlike behaviour.

Support KINA and its members at trainings, games and functions.
KINA Player Code of Conduct
You must ensure the standards of the Fair Play Code are applied by demonstrating the five core values that will lead to fair play for all:

Captains have the right to approach an umpire during an interval or after the game for clarification of any rule.

Approach the umpire in a courteous and polite way.

Cooperate with your coach, and other players, deliberately fouling or provoking an opponent and throwing / damaging equipment is not acceptable or permitted.

Cooperate with your coach, and other players.
-
Treat all players as you would like to be treated.

Ensure that at all times your behaviour is fair.

Be a patient and enthusiastic, supporter of fellow players.

Applaud all good play, by your own team and opponents.

Be a responsible team member.

Always be on time.

Encourage and assist all players.

Attend all training sessions.

Ensure you always bring the appropriate uniform and equipment to training and/or games.

Do not engage in practices that affect sporting performance (alcohol, tobacco and drug use).

Respect and acknowledge the contribution of those who create the opportunity for you to play (volunteers, scorers, coaches, timekeepers, administrators and umpires).

Always follow the associations COVID-19 rules in accordance with KIDHS protocol.
This code of conduct is an expectation by KINA, any disciplinary action will be deemed by the committee.
KINA Guardian & Spectator Code of Conduct
You must ensure the standards of the Fair Play Code are applied by demonstrating the five core values that will lead to fair play for all:

Fully comply with the Child Safety in Netball Code of Conduct.

If your child is interested, encourage them to participate in the appropriate netball activity. However, if your child is not willing to participate, do not force him or her. Remember, children are involved in organised activity for their enjoyment, not yours.

Focus upon your child’s effort and performance rather than the overall outcome of the event. This assists your child in setting realistic goals related to his/her ability by reducing the emphasis on winning.

Teach your child that an honest effort is as important as victory, so that the result of each game is accepted without undue disappointment.
-
Encourage your child to always play according to the rules.
-
Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game.
-
Remember that children learn best from example. Applaud good play by all players.

If you disagree with an umpire or coach raise the issue through the appropriate channels rather than question their judgement and honesty in public.

Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse.
-
Recognise and respect the value and importance of volunteer administrators, coaches, COVID Officials and umpires. They give up their time and resources to provide recreational activities for players and deserve your support.

Be a model of good sports behaviour for children to copy.
-
Be courteous in communication with administrators, coaches, players and umpires. Teach children to do likewise.

Support the use of age appropriate development activities and modified rules.

Demonstrate appropriate social behaviour

Encourage players to play according to the rules and official decisions, and develop your own knowledge of the rules.

Always follow the associations COVID-19 rules in accordance with KIDHS protocol.
