How do you select the teams?

KINA is a non-selective association and all players are welcome to register. We endeavour to find a place for every player and the committee and/or coaching consultants consider the following factors when allocating players to teams:

  • Availability of a place in a team of the correct age group.

  • Players who have special requests and/or needs in regards to playing in a certain team.

  • Convenience of training day and time for the player.

  • Familial connections and transport to and from trainings and games.

  • If known, the suitability of experience and skills of a player in relation to other players and preferred playing positions.

  • If known, the suitability of the experience and skills of the player in relation to the age and section of the competition.

There are many other and varied considerations that the committee must juggle when creating teams, the feedback and input of the coaches is often requested and encouraged to assist in creating cohesive, well-balanced teams for a competitive fixture.

Can boys play in the junior competition?

Yes, boys can play in the Under 12 section of the Junior Competition.

As we are aligned with Netball Victoria, we are governed by their rules and regulations when it comes to mixed netball. Given the low participant numbers on King Island, we are unable to provide more than two age group sections, and therefore, are not able to permit boys to play in the Under 16 section of the Junior Competition.

This year, the KINA Committee is looking to run a Junior Mixed Competition - 6 week competition in the Spring.
